Our Story
Hi everyone,
My name is Katie, and just a few months ago, in January 2026, our whole world turned upside down. Our twin boys, Noah and Liam, were only 7 months old when they both started having trouble breathing. What we thought was just a stubborn cold turned out to be something much more serious.
After several tests and scans, the doctors diagnosed both of them with advanced lung cancer. They found multiple tumors in both boys’ lungs. The oncologists explained that they have a very specific inherited genetic mutation in the EGFR gene that strongly predisposes them to developing lung cancer extremely early in life. Unfortunately, both boys inherited this mutation from my side of the family, and it has now caused aggressive tumors to grow in their tiny lungs.
Since the diagnosis, things have moved very quickly. They’ve both already undergone surgery to remove as much of the visible tumors as possible, and they’re currently going through a combined course of chemotherapy and targeted therapy designed specifically for their exact mutation. They’ve been in and out of the pediatric oncology unit for weeks now, and it’s been incredibly hard watching them go through this.
Noah and Liam are fighters, but this has been devastating for our whole family. The medical bills are adding up fast, between the surgeries, the specialized chemo drugs, frequent scans, and the travel back and forth to the children’s hospital. My husband has had to take a lot of time off work, and I’ve basically put my life on hold to stay with the boys around the clock.
Any support at all, whether it’s to help with treatment costs, medications, or just to help us keep things going at home, would mean the world to us right now.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading our story. We’re taking it one day at a time, staying hopeful, and praying for our little boys to keep fighting. Any prayers, kind words, or donations you can send are deeply appreciated.
